AI is great at summarizing, but it’s also surprisingly good at finding promo codes.
I can’t count how many times I’ve searched Google for a promo code, only to land on a sketchy site claiming to have “verified” deals. After wasting minutes clicking through endless redirects and pasting codes into my checkout, not a single one worked.
Browser plug-ins can sometimes help by automating the process—when they work, it feels like magic. But they often fail too, either lacking the right codes or not detecting the promo code box at all. And I don’t really want to give my full browsing history to them.
A few months ago, I discovered a simple ChatGPT trick that works most of the time. All you have to do is type:
Can you find me promo codes for [store/brand]?
You can even get more specific when you need a code that comes with your services like your credit card—say, renting a car or checking into a hotel—without risking being flagged for “abusing” codes at check in.
Here’s an example you can try yourself:
Can you please find me promo codes for Hertz as an AMEX card holder?

Update on Sept, 1st:
Since this post, I recently used ChatGPT to look for promo codes on two different occasions. One was when I ordered from Burger Priest (one of the best burger chains in Canada that you have to try), and the other was for Seats.Aero (a platform to find airline reward and mileage redemption tickets). In less than 30 seconds, I saved 10% and 30% respectively—without having to deal with the endless redirection hoops on some websites.
Below are the screenshots from ChatGPT:
